MISTRAL is a collaborative program between Stanford University and SRI International with the objective of fostering innovation in the development of surgical devices.

Our mission is to foster the development of novel surgical technologies and promote the science of surgical device design by bringing together expertise in surgery and engineering through formal, project-based interdisciplinary collaboration. An important part of our mission is to address the development of technologies for groups underserved by industry such as children.

To meet the needs of children in particular, in June 2010 the MISTRAL Pediatric medical device consortium was formed.
